Summer Plans

I have a countdown to my summer vacation already and we just got back from spring break about a week ago. I don't believe I'm one of the people that hate school, it is just that I didn't get to go anywhere for spring break. So i believe havong this countdown gives me something to look forward to after school's done.

This May I'll be going to Holden Beach, North Carolina, with my family. My parents, brothers and their wives, and my sister-in-law's parents, and brother and his wife.  It's kind of a odd group of people but we have a good time together. We get along great , have a good time, and sometimes get competative but it's all in good ways. Last year we went down to Holden Beach and had a huge house that had a pool and a front spot right on the ocean. We went fishing right on the beach and caught some fish, and even some sand sharks. It was a bit crazy to think that we were just swimming in the same area about 3 hours before that.

Holden Beach isn't known to many people.  It's about 30 miles north of the popular Myrtle Beach, so basically almost int he middle of the coastline of North Carolina. This beach is alot better than Myrtle. It's more private and you don't have people driving on it, or overpopulated. You may have to drive further to go to a nice fancier restaurant but its totally worth the privacy.

But this countdown makes me get more excited and anxious for this trip that's so far away!! 67 days!!!! :)

Turning 21!!!!!

I turned 21 this past sun and it was so fun.  I went to a bar in my home town on Saturday night and let me tell you it was like I was in a time capsule.  At first I was edgy for going to a bar because a few of my friends couldn’t go since they weren’t 21. Plus I don’t really hang out in my town very much because I’m mostly at school. But I got over the nervousness, which could have been some of the alcohol helping. It had been such a long time since I’d seen so many people from my town.  Most of them were older, like in their mid thirties which were friends of my brothers.  But we all remembered each other and had a good time. And of course as the night goes on everyone gets along.

Since I’ve turned 21 though, I haven’t had to pay for my own drinks yet. My brother and sister in-law bought my some as a gift, by boyfriend and guy friends bought my shots at the bar, and then when I went out to dinner with some girlfriends they bought the pitchers of margaritas. I mean I still haven’t had to show my I.D.  to a store or waiter. Isn’t that the main excitement when you turn twenty one? That when a person asks to see your i.d., you can just whip it out of your wallet?

It kind of reminds me when I turned 17 and couldn’t wait for that salesclerk at the movies theater to ask for my i.d. so I could watch an R rated movie. Or when I turned 18 and asked to buy a lottery ticket.  I just couldn’t wait to prove that I was legally aloud to buy them.  I do have a feeling though that in about a week it will be old news, just like the earlier years that I used to be so excited for.

Spring Break!!

As you can tell I am on spring break and its amazing! I believe every college student can't wait for this break right when they get back from Christmas break. It's the break where they most likely do not go home and spend time with their family but travel.  Some may go to a different state, usually a warmer area, or even a different country. Most of the people I know went to Florida and the the party city of Panama City. Some others are traveling to London  and Spain, but those are on school trips with my college.

I believe anywhere from school is the best place, specially at the time. Not knocking my university but students are starting to get antsy, the weathers starting to get better and procrastination is at its highest. This is the perfect time to take a break from school and to release stress.

Some students though , like me this year, did not go on a trip, did not travel to another state. This spring break I am staying at my house and relaxing. I have some homework and papers to write.  So for me, this break is a time for me to get all my work done. Which is not as much fun as what others are having but I'm getting alot of work done, so that's a positive at looking at it.

Getting Involved

I really do agree when the college student life tells the students to get involved. If this can be clubs, sororities/fraternities, sports, and etc, I really do believe it helps students to do better in school. When students are involved with many things to do, it helps them learn time management and organize better.
I play college basketball and I believe it helped me with pulling off the grades that I haven gotten through the past years. But now that it is spring time, I find myself having too much time on my hands. I seems like I always have plenty of time to get to my homework so I just keep pushing it off. Then before I know it, its 10 o clock and I’m just then getting started.
Students do need to get more involved with groups and clubs not just for time management help but it also helps with meeting knew people. A lot of my friends are mostly outside of basketball.  They are people that I’ve met through clubs that I have joined. Plus being involved with so much stuff helps to look good on a resume J
