My awesome nephew

Spending time with my nephew is one of the most enjoyable thing I look forward to, especially when I'm at college. I get to get away and see family, and most of the time he is the first one i go to see.  He brightens my day everytime I see him. Everyone else is all about him too, but i feel like I have a closer connection with him because I am his godmother. Out of all his relatives on my side I'm the closets  to his age (not counting his little sister). My brother did wait a while to have kids and I was an oops baby from my rents so that's the only reason haha.

Well my nephews name is Nolan and he will be 3 in a few months. He is at that age where he is getting really fun, funny, and easy to talk to. Just the other day I pulled up to my brothers house and had just gotten into an argument with my boyfriend so I was pretty sad and upset. Well right when i got out of the car, here comes Nolan running out of the garage with a pair of sunglasses, t-shirt, diaper( no pants) and a pair of boot on. He says" hey Wachel!!!" It made my burst into laughter. He made me feel so much better. I forgot for about 5 seconds that I had been upset. I know everyone is probably biased towards their niece or nephew and think that whatever they do is so funny. But this little guy is so precious and the things he says are awesome!!

Looking forward to a weekend

Finals are coming up in a few weeks!!! I’m not stressing about them exactly yet, but two of my classes are having a test now or a project that’s due instead. In my one class we have to do a presentation and a final paper which is due in the next week, and my senior seminar class I have a huge proposal paper that I need to be finishing up here pretty soon. This is the part of spring that I dislike; the stress of bringing everything to a rap. I am so stressed out. There is so much work to be done. I’m stressing because this weekend is the big party weekend where our whole school is like one big party. Everyone stays in town instead of going home. Basically there are a lot of cookouts, corn hole, solo cups and when available; sun rays. It’s the weekend when almost no students are stuck in their dorm rooms doing homework. That’s why I’m trying to get it all done before the weekend.

This weekend is called poolza. Fraternities and sororities have beach volleyball tournaments, cookouts, and lots of fun activities for the student body to enjoy. The school also puts a fun little park on up in the center quad. There are usually blowup playgrounds and crafts to do. They have lots of fair foods and music playing. It’s a great time to just get free games and food, and when you’re a college student it’s the perfect weekend.

Getting a Bug

Oh how I love getting the flu bug. This past weekend I got sick Saturday night. I was so sick that I was in bed all Sunday. Let’s just say I didn’t get out of bed and done sleeping till .  I know, I’m such a baby when it comes to getting the flu or having a bad hangover. My boyfriend always makes fun of me. Telling me I’m a sissy and etc. But you know what? The flu can bring down a big 6’5”, 250 lb man to his weakest point, so I can most definitely act like a baby when it hits me.

I also love it when people try to give me all these home remedies. “Never put water on an empty upset stomach, do drink a lot of water. Eat lots of bland foods, put milk on your upset stomach, don’t eat milky foods. Sip on sprite and 7up (light non-caffeine soda), drink dark sodas. Well you know what? I think the only remedy that works is the one you grew up with and the one your mother gave you. So people are always going to tell you their way, but I feel it’s more of the comfort knowing it helped and felt better when you were younger. So some might physically really help, but a lot is mental. Least that what I believe.

Home

I've noticed since I've been at school and away from home, how much better I get along with my parents. My freshman year at college was different. I couldn't wait to get away from them and barely ever got a hold of them. It was nice only talking to them or keeping in touch once a week or even two weeks. I even remember sitting at my computer and getting my first text from my mom. I was so shocked and proud of her because she doesn't have texting. It said "Hello! Well since you never call or get in touch I got texting." This made me laugh. But I do believe the texting helped so we stay in touch more. We probably even text at least once a day.

Now that I'm a junior, I've noticed I call home more. Not just because I need something, but because I just want to talk and see how they are doing. I also have driven home more to visit. Sometimes instead of staying at my house with my friends, or boyfriend, I'd rather go home and hang with my parents. We get along better and barely ever fight or bicker. I think this might be because my maturity level.  I believe now I can relate and understand them better and vice versa. But now it's nice to go home and I look forward to it instead of dreading it. :)

Summer Plans

I have a countdown to my summer vacation already and we just got back from spring break about a week ago. I don't believe I'm one of the people that hate school, it is just that I didn't get to go anywhere for spring break. So i believe havong this countdown gives me something to look forward to after school's done.

This May I'll be going to Holden Beach, North Carolina, with my family. My parents, brothers and their wives, and my sister-in-law's parents, and brother and his wife.  It's kind of a odd group of people but we have a good time together. We get along great , have a good time, and sometimes get competative but it's all in good ways. Last year we went down to Holden Beach and had a huge house that had a pool and a front spot right on the ocean. We went fishing right on the beach and caught some fish, and even some sand sharks. It was a bit crazy to think that we were just swimming in the same area about 3 hours before that.

Holden Beach isn't known to many people.  It's about 30 miles north of the popular Myrtle Beach, so basically almost int he middle of the coastline of North Carolina. This beach is alot better than Myrtle. It's more private and you don't have people driving on it, or overpopulated. You may have to drive further to go to a nice fancier restaurant but its totally worth the privacy.

But this countdown makes me get more excited and anxious for this trip that's so far away!! 67 days!!!! :)

Turning 21!!!!!

I turned 21 this past sun and it was so fun.  I went to a bar in my home town on Saturday night and let me tell you it was like I was in a time capsule.  At first I was edgy for going to a bar because a few of my friends couldn’t go since they weren’t 21. Plus I don’t really hang out in my town very much because I’m mostly at school. But I got over the nervousness, which could have been some of the alcohol helping. It had been such a long time since I’d seen so many people from my town.  Most of them were older, like in their mid thirties which were friends of my brothers.  But we all remembered each other and had a good time. And of course as the night goes on everyone gets along.

Since I’ve turned 21 though, I haven’t had to pay for my own drinks yet. My brother and sister in-law bought my some as a gift, by boyfriend and guy friends bought my shots at the bar, and then when I went out to dinner with some girlfriends they bought the pitchers of margaritas. I mean I still haven’t had to show my I.D.  to a store or waiter. Isn’t that the main excitement when you turn twenty one? That when a person asks to see your i.d., you can just whip it out of your wallet?

It kind of reminds me when I turned 17 and couldn’t wait for that salesclerk at the movies theater to ask for my i.d. so I could watch an R rated movie. Or when I turned 18 and asked to buy a lottery ticket.  I just couldn’t wait to prove that I was legally aloud to buy them.  I do have a feeling though that in about a week it will be old news, just like the earlier years that I used to be so excited for.

Spring Break!!

As you can tell I am on spring break and its amazing! I believe every college student can't wait for this break right when they get back from Christmas break. It's the break where they most likely do not go home and spend time with their family but travel.  Some may go to a different state, usually a warmer area, or even a different country. Most of the people I know went to Florida and the the party city of Panama City. Some others are traveling to London  and Spain, but those are on school trips with my college.

I believe anywhere from school is the best place, specially at the time. Not knocking my university but students are starting to get antsy, the weathers starting to get better and procrastination is at its highest. This is the perfect time to take a break from school and to release stress.

Some students though , like me this year, did not go on a trip, did not travel to another state. This spring break I am staying at my house and relaxing. I have some homework and papers to write.  So for me, this break is a time for me to get all my work done. Which is not as much fun as what others are having but I'm getting alot of work done, so that's a positive at looking at it.
